The Banat
region lies at the nexus of present-day Serbia, Romania
and Hungary
The trans-boundary area has strong historical and
cultural connections, and contains similar resources and
land use patterns. The area on both sides of the border
is largely rural and agricultural, facing problems of
high unemployment but rich in biological diversity and
potential for sustainable development, including organic
production and eco-tourism.
